Nearly all of my golf buddies have a rangefinder. Some have more than one! But for me, there were several considerations when I decided to add one to my bag.
1. Accuracy. The V2 advertises +/- 1 yard accuracy at a flag up to 300 yards and trees up to 600 yards. I guess that's good enough! :)
2. Ease of use. I know that I want to just know how far it is....and I don't want to have to stand on my left foot and sacrifice a chicken while speaking in tongues to get the info! The V2 is about as easy as it gets. It has 2 modes, regular and pinseeker, operated by a button on the side and one button on top of the body to push to get the distance. Can't be much easier than that.
3. Size. Fits easily in one hand and only weighs about 1 lb. It comes in its own well designed case, too.
4. Price. Well, if you've read any of my prior posts, you'll know that I almost ALWAYS have issues with price! OK, I'm cheap! The V2 will set you back $300-350, so it's not an insignificant cost. However, if your pro shop can do it, its a great way to use that pro shop credit you've built up from those closest to the pin contests and tournament gift certificates. One other issue is the battery, which is an odd 3 volt battery that is not sold just everywhere and is not cheap ($5-8 each).
