A Beast!
If you've seen the commercial for Dick's Sporting Goods with Justin Rose, you know what I mean! This driver is, for a lower handicap golfer with clubhead speed in excess of 90 mph, about as good as it gets. Light, forgiving and LLLLOOONNNGGGG.
TaylorMade's website shows the trajectory to be mid-launch with low spin, but, hey buddy...can you keep a secret? You can hit this thing off the deck! I am a low ball hitter, having grown up in Oklahoma and I have no problem hitting boring shots off the fairway...usually with a hint of fade.
It's a good looking club with a modern design that maximizes the perimeter weighting for additional forgiveness and utilizes TaylorMade's "Inverted Cone Technology". I.C.T is supposed to make expand the part of the face that has the maximum C.O.R. (coefficient of restitution). In other words, you can hit it all over the face and the ball still jumps! Gotta go with them when they're right!
It's a little pricey for me with a SRP of $399, but then pretty much everything is, according to my wife. However, the non TP version has more shaft choices, is just a touch lighter swingweight, and can be had for as little as $199 now! That's because TM has just brought out their latest generation..the R7 Limited. That makes this a great buy for a great driver! You won't go wrong.
